Review: Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Computer Speakers

Wow. Excellent speakers. They go from low to “entirely too loud” (260w peak power) with no apparent distortion or artifacts. As a minor positive, you can hook them up with the controls on either side. The only negative is the 1/8″ plug, but that is to be expected given these are computer speakers. I find it amazing that they’ve been making these same speakers since ’03 with no changes. They got it right, and they clearly know it.

The set features 2 3/4″ midrange speakers and tweeters in the satellite units. The subwoofer measures 7 inches and is ported. Controls include a main volume and a subwoofer control. They are a little sensitive but you can always turn them up a bit and use the Windows volume control for fine tuning. Other pluses include a headphone jack which you won’t be using, and a mysterious extra input jack that is probably useful for hooking up music players and so forth.

I highly recommend these speakers, especially considering they’re quite reasonable. That is all.
